GUATEMALA: DEC 27, 2008 - JANUARY 8, 2009

Our purpose in this trip is to assist in the village of Panajachel, one of the small villages around Lake Atitlan devastated by Hurricane Stan which hit Guatemala and El Salvador in 2005. Although nearly three years have passed, much of this area remains in need of rebuilding. Hurricane Stan hit Guatemala between Hurricane Katrina and the devastating earthquake in Pakistan. Many people have remained unaware of the destruction and loss it created for thousands of Guatemalans. Perhaps because of the timing or for other reasons, assistance for this region has gone largely overlooked.

inside/out's trip participants will assist in rebuilding efforts in Panajachel. No special skills or knowledge are required for the assistance projects. Anyone who has a desire to help is welcome. If you do have special skills in any of these areas, we can find additional ways of incorporating those into the project.

Following our humanitarian work in Panajachel, we will take an multi-sport adventure tour of the incredibly diverse and scenic Lake Atitlan region, enjoying trekking, mountain biking, sea kayaking, yoga, paragliding, zip line and culture and history.

Humanitarian trip duration is 7 days with an additional 6 days attached following for local adventure in the project area. Number of participants may range from 6-12. Age limitations apply. Project and adventure tour to be led by Zoe Katsulos of inside/out, with additional support staff as necessary. All local guides are bi-lingual.

A portion of proceeds from the trip will also be earmarked for the projects.

Trip Cost:  $1875 (does not include airfare)

WED 12/31/08 -- Participate in project at Panajachel, Cultural New Year experience, Overnight in Panajachel

THU 1/1/09 -- Participate in project at Panajachel, Overnight in Panajachel

FRI 1/2/09 -- Participate in project at Panajachel, Overnight in Panajachel

SAT 1/3/09 -- Begin two-day volcano trek, Overnight in Highlands accommodations

SUN 1/4/09 -- Volcano trek, Overnight in Highlands accommodations

MON 1/5/09 -- Mountain biking in Guatemala Highlands, Overnight in Highlands accommodations

TUE 1/6/09 -- Zip line eco-tour and/or Yoga, Overnight in Highlands accommodations
