GREECE: UNITING CULTURES AROUND ANIMAL WELFARE - JUNE 2-12, 2012

Due to the success of and tremendous interest in our Greece animal welfare trips in 2009 and 2010, we have once again added a trip for 2012. We will continue to address with locals the tragic and inhumane conditions that exist in Greece for dogs: abandonment, neglect, starvation, poisoning, overpopulation, abuse and mistreatment. inside/out's trip participants will assist animal welfare advocates in Greece who are desperately trying to improve these conditions. These people have made a difference for many animals by providing veterinary care, sterilzation, feeding and rehoming. We will work with local shelters doing hands on work as well as continuing our work in education and awareness among the Greek communities.

NEPAL: CONNECTING PEOPLE AND PLACES WITH A TRAIL PROJECT - 2012

We have an incredible project and adventure lined up for April 2011 in Nepal. Humanitourism™ Nepal will include a rewarding project rebuilding and improving a trail connecting villagers near the Khumbu Valley in the Everest region to markets and other necessary resources in Lukla. We will be working side by side with the villagers on this project and will incorporate both some homestays and village camps during our time there. Following our project work, we will embark on a wilderness trek that parallels the famous Khumbu Valley trek up to Everest Base Camp and offers the same incredible views but in a truly unspoiled and off the beaten path experience. We will avoid the crowds and tourist influx of the typical valley trek. This is an incredible time to be in the valley, with springtime flowers and lush greenery. There will be an opportunity for some amazing photography.

GREEK ISLANDS: ZAKYNTHOS SEA TURTLE CONSERVATION
14-Day Custom Itinerary - May & June

We will work with a Greek sea turtle conservation organization on a project designed to preserve, protect and provide education about the Mediterranean Loggerhead Sea Turtle, which is an endangered species with nesting grounds on the beaches of the Greek island of Zakynthos.  This is the primary habitat and nesting area for these gentle giants, whose continued reproduction is threatened by tourism and development.

The focus of this tour will be hands on work in maintaining and improving nesting areas in the Gerakas area of the island, including monitoring and reporting turtle activity, a leaflet distributing campaign, a beach clean up day and helping to build a rescue and rehabilitation facility on the island.

AFRICA: KENYA, TANZANIA, MAASAILAND AND MT. KILIMANJARO

We will help to plant trees that will be used for biofuel on a parcel of land that flanks Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our entire tour will be experienced in close proximity to Kilimanjaro and the culture that surrounds it. You will have the opportunity to be immersed in the local culture while having the security of english-speaking guides and organizers. This trip will include a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro and a safari adventure. Our local guide is a respected Maasai tribesman.
